YYTERI SURFCENTRE IN SEASON 2002
The center is closed from 1.10.2001 to 1.5.2002. New notice of the season 2002 will be published in February-March 2002.

Finnish Boardsailing Association (FBA) continues to carry out the activities of Yyteri Surfcentre..

Surfcentre offers the best surroundings in the Nordic countries for devoted windsurfers and for all that have an interest in windsurfing. Surfcentre has sauna and bathrooms in high quality and also storage of 100m2. You can rent windsurfing equipment or a short-term storage room for your own equipment. Education of the ABC's in windsurfing and further education is offered either in separate courses or daily continually.

Yyteri is one of the best places to start windsurfing. The beach is over four kilometres long, with low water and a sand bottom, these excellent surroundings make it easy to start windsurfing and also continue more demanding windsurfing activities. The best wind directions for Yyteri beach are from South-Southeast to West-Northwest (155°-295°). Time of the westwind is best for windsurfing and it gathers together the windsurfers from all over Finland.

Surfcentre serves also as an international competition centre, by offering the officerooms, storage, sauna and bathrooms for the competitors and the officials. Restaurants and accommodations (Hotel Yyteri, Yyteri Camping) are located nearby Surfcenter. If looking for other activities that windsurfing Yyteri has a lot to offer; Yyteri Golf, Beach Volley, mountain biking, swimming e.g.

Yyteri Surfcentre will be opened for the members of FBA in the beginning of May. Surfcentre will close up in September-October.

Surfcentre starts to offer services for everyone in the beginning of June and it will be kept open daily until mid of August.

You can also by some windsurfing equipment and supplies. ABC's for Windsurfing in separate courses or individual teaching. Renting sauna and bathrooms for families or groups. Surf-sauna for member of FBA during windy days.

Courses and events 2001:
·Tutored 2-day ABC courses (Sat-Sun, 4 hours/day, OBS! Not if high wind.)

• During the time when Surfcentre is open from 12.00 to 18.00, you can have tutoring and individual teaching from windsurfing instructors.
• Course for windsurfing instructors 2001 June 2. -3.
• Opening windsurfing season 2001 Saturday 2nd of June
• Windsurfing week, June 21. -29.
• Closing windsurfing season and surfcentre Saturday 1st of September
  
  
  Competitions 2001
  In Yyteri different windsurfing classes will have their competitions for six times.
  
  Competition season starts in Midsummer; there will be national Formula, Funboard and Freestyle races.
  
  The main event of the season is also this year the traditional Windsurfing Week in July. This year the event comes to its peak when Baltic Cup Yyteri event will be carried out at the end of the week. Two day national competition for all classes will start the week on Saturday 21st of July. On Monday the actual Windsurfing Week starts with all its happenings. From Monday to Thursday ABC courses and deepening course will take place, as well as four-day Slalom- and Freestyle-cup will be carried out. On Tuesday the route of Säppi Marathon will be tested and on Wednesday there will be a thrilling competition for junior windsurfers less than 16 years old, a Finnish Junior Champion will be selected. On Thursday traditional jump competition to the Lake Fatijärvi will be held.
  
  Baltic Cup Yyteri Event will start on Friday 27. of July. We are looking for to have skilled windsurfing competitors from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. On Saturday 28. of July the first Säppi Marathon will be arranged, there are two routes, one 9 kilometres route for beginners to the Island Kallioluoto (refreshment place) and back to Yyteri beach and one 25 kilometres route for more qualified competitors to the Island Säppi and back to Yyteri beach.
  
  Season for competitions in Yyteri ends in the turn of August and September. There will be Finnish Championship Competitions for Funboard and Formula Funboard classes. Waveriding Finnish Champion will be selected also in September, traditionally the competition will be held between Uniluoto and Karhuluoto in so called "Gulf of the Police Station", this competition have been arrange to honour Juha Kaartinen who died in this gulf few years ago.
